Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops

The Eufy 11S is among the most affordable self empty robot vacuum-emptying robot vacuums available. In our tests it was able to clean up dry oats on hard floors and low pile carpeting. Its dust bin is open and empty quickly, making it much easier to use than other models in the same price range.

It charges at its base, and then resumes cleaning when it's clean. However, its obstacle-avoidance technology gets tangled up in cords and socks, and it can't go under low thresholds.

1. iRobot Roomba 11S

The 11S is a more affordable self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner that many people seem to like. It is great at maneuvering under furniture and appears to be a smart choice for people with hard floors or who wish to do light daily cleans. The suction might be a bit weaker than our top picks, however it's still able to get the job accomplished. It comes with a huge dust bin and a long-lasting battery. The app allows you to schedule daily cleanings or choose a particular room. You can also mark your home to allow the device to avoid areas that you don't want it to visit.

The app is easy to use and has a clean layout. It's not a feature-rich app however, it's simple to use and allows you to monitor your robot's status. It comes with a tutorial that will walk you through the basics.

Bounce Navigation's cleaning pattern isn't always intuitive. Sometimes it follows straight lines while other times, it focuses on the edges of a space. However, it cleans the entire floor. It's not the best at navigating obstacles, it was unable to get under our pet food bowls and piano pedals, and got caught up in our 2.25 inch shag carpet multiple times.

We think that there are better robot self emptying vacuum vacuums on the market than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba 694 is stronger and is easier to maintain. It also has lower recurring costs, and charges faster. It has a larger bin, performs better on any type of surface and is able to climb over obstacles that are low in elevation (like electrical cables) more easily.

The RoboVac 11S from Eufy is another good option for regular vacuuming. It's design is very similar to our top choice, and it is great at picking up smaller and fine dirt on hard floors. It is able to do a great job on carpets with a medium or low pile. It has a large dirt container and uses BoostIQ for automatic suction power adjustment. It comes with a user-friendly remote control, and you can schedule daily cleanings using the app. The battery lasts for around an hour and the bin is easily emptied by removing it from its dock.

2. Roborock S7 maxV Ultra

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot mop and vacuum is a fantastic robot that comes with a an impressive array of automated features. It is available in three models including the standard S7, the S7 MaxV Plus, and the S7 MaxV Ultra. The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only one with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternate Auto-Empty Dock). These docks let the robot return to its base following a cleaning session and empty the debris it has collected into a dust bag or reservoir, empty its dirty water tank, and clean its mopping pad.

Sensors on the S7 work together to clear obstacles and clean them. It can detect floor types and save a floor map for rooms and zones. It can even detect dirt levels. It can also schedule and execute spot cleaning sessions. It did well in the standard tests, but did not perform as well as the Roomba j7+ in the carpet deep cleaning test.

You can program the S7 by using the companion app to run a cleaning cycle according to your schedule. You can choose an option for cleaning like eco or automatic, as well as the day, week, or time. You can also decide whether the robot should stop if it runs out of power or encounters an obstacle.

You can still make use of the S7 if you don't own an iPhone by connecting a charging dock to a remote control. The controls are difficult at first, but they work well once you've mastered them. It's easy to set up, comes with an enormous bin that's easy to empty (albeit somewhat loudly) into a trash bin when it's full and is easily programmed to complete a home cleaning schedule or when required.

The IQ XL can connect to your home WiFi, which lets you monitor it via the Shark app and view its battery status as it cleans. The app lets you create a cleaning schedule and receive push notifications about its current status as well as pause cleaning and then restart cleaning, or set it to a single area. It can also be controlled using voice commands through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will tell you the power mode it's currently in, namely Eco, Normal, or Max--but we didn't find that any of these modes made a huge difference to the cleaning performance.

The IQ XL will automatically empty the dustbin at the end of a cleaning cycle into the base, and then automatically empty itself. The bin can hold up to 60 days of debris, meaning you don't need to empty it more than once, unless your pets have long hair. If you need to empty it you can simply detach the side container, hold it over the trash can, and then press the button.

The Shark IQ XL is a great vacuum cleaner. It does a great job of cleaning floors with no dust and can maneuver itself well. However it's not the best choice for carpeted floors. Shark IQ XL feels a slightly less sturdy than the Roomba 694. It does a good job in cleaning carpeted floors however, it's not as effective as the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of bare floor performance. The i7 is also better-built and feels more durable. It is robust, has lower maintenance requirements, has lower costs for recurring expenses, is faster to charge, and offers comparable battery performance, and offers far more advanced automation features such as no-go zones and the ability to select specific rooms for a clean.

iRobot j7+

This robot mop/vac combo is a rare find, since it does both jobs extremely well. iRobot Combo J7+ comes with all the smarts and features of its j7 counterpart, including LiDAR map and self-emptying robot vacuum and mop. However, it also has additional features for vacuuming and mopping.

The j7+ utilizes the latest acoustic sensor technology to determine the type of floor which allows it to mop or vacuum the room in its first attempt. This information can also be utilized to help prioritize cleaning rooms that have carpets and rug versus those with hard flooring.

The J7+ is quieter than the majority of robotic vacuums when running and is even quieter when it's mopping. The maximum reading of 64 decibels on our decibel meter is comparable to general office chatter.

It's easy to set the schedule to clean and alter the way that the j7+ operates when its dust canister is full. The j7+ can be controlled by voice assistants (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.) for a hands-free approach and the app allows you to create and look at maps of your home.

In our tests, we found that the j7+ performed well on both hard and carpeted flooring, removing the majority of the dirt we tossed at it. It struggles a bit with pet hair as well as large debris such as sand, but it is able to remove these items with a bit of effort. It has excellent navigational skills and two cliff sensors to prevent it from falling down stairs or getting caught on furniture legs.

We did notice a few minor niggles with the j7+, mainly that it can snag on cords and carpets, and it doesn't always switch off its mopping when it's finished vacuuming. This is a great model that ticks all the boxes.

iRobot j7+ has also one of the best auto-emptying systems we've tried. It dumps its 14oz/0.4-liter dust canister in the base station, robot self Emptying vacuum and it automatically empties for you. This helps reduce the amount of garbage you need to dispose of and you'll need to replace the dust disposal bag from the dock about every 60 days or so, based on how often you use the j7+.
